Champhai R.D Block was created on 17.11.2005. The Block Headquarters is 194 Kms from Aizawl, the state capital. It lies in the North Eastern corner of the state between 23-24 degree North Latitudes and 93-94 degree East Longitudes. It has an area of 758.67 sq.Km with an International Boundary of 68 kms with Myanmar. The climatic condition of the area is moderate with an annual rainfall of 3017.69mm.

According to 2011 census, the Champhai district has a population of 125,370. The district has a population density of 39 inhabitants per sq km. The literacy rate of the district is 93.51% and the sex ratio is 981 females for every 1000 males. The major religion in this district is Christianity with Hindus and Muslims forming the rest. Mizo is the principal language spoken here.Economy
Agriculture is the major occupation of the people of this district. The main crop grown here is rice. Due to the cultivation of large acres of land of rice fields and because of the maximum amount of rice production, this district is known as the ‘Rice Bowl of Mizoram’. The district also has a number of commercial centers and people employed in them. There are also shops where imported products from the neighboring country are sold.
